The good news is that the neighbourhood is well within the delivery radius of Netanya's main restaurant scene, and the national platforms serve it reliably.

That said, there are a few practical things worth knowing before you're standing hungry in an unfamiliar apartment on a Thursday evening. Getting set up correctly from day one saves a lot of frustration.

The Apps You'll Actually Use

Wolt and Ten Bis

Wolt is the app most Anglo residents end up preferring. The interface is available in English, payment by foreign credit card is generally straightforward, and the restaurant selection covering Netanya centre and the beachfront promenade area is solid. You'll find everything from local hummus spots to sushi, pizza, and burger joints, with delivery times to Ir Yamim typically running 30 to 50 minutes depending on the hour.

Ten Bis is the other major platform and it carries a slightly different roster of restaurants. It's been around longer and some of Netanya's more established places list exclusively there. The app is primarily in Hebrew, which can be a small hurdle at first, but Google Translate on your camera handles the menus well enough. A number of residents keep both apps on their phone and simply check which one has what they want that evening.

Direct Ordering

Several restaurants along Sderot Ussishkin and around the Poleg area still take orders by phone or WhatsApp and deliver themselves. The local pizza places, a few of the shawarma spots, and some of the more neighbourhood-facing cafes operate this way. If you've found a place you love and it doesn't appear on Wolt, it's always worth asking directly whether they deliver to Ir Yamim. Often the answer is yes.

Grocery Delivery: The Practical Setup

The Supermarket Chains

Shufersal, Israel's largest supermarket chain, offers online ordering with home delivery and Ir Yamim falls within their Netanya coverage zone. You order through their website or app, choose a delivery slot (usually a two-hour window), and a van arrives at your building. Minimum order amounts apply and vary, but they're generally around 100 to 150 shekels, which is easy to reach. Rami Levy and Victory also offer delivery in the area, and comparing prices between them on a big shop is genuinely worth a few minutes.

The websites are in Hebrew, and setting up your address correctly the first time is the step that trips people up most. The building entrance codes and floor details matter here more than in other countries. Once the address is saved correctly, repeat orders become quick.

Quick Commerce and On-Demand Groceries

For smaller, faster grocery needs, Wolt also carries a grocery and convenience selection through partner dark stores. Think milk, bread, wine, coffee, a few pantry staples delivered in under an hour. It won't replace a full weekly shop but it's genuinely useful when you've just landed and need basics before you can do a proper run. During the summer rental season, when the building populations swell, these services handle the demand well.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind

Shabbat and Jewish holidays affect availability significantly. From Friday afternoon through Saturday night, most restaurants are closed and supermarket deliveries stop entirely. If you're arriving for a long weekend or holiday period, it pays to order ahead on Thursday or stock up at the Poleg area shops beforehand. Residents who've lived here a season or two build this into their rhythm without thinking about it.

Kashrut certification matters to some buyers and not to others, but it's worth knowing that most restaurants on the delivery platforms in Netanya do carry a hechsher. If kashrut is a priority for you, the platform listings usually show the certification details. When in doubt, calling the restaurant directly is always the cleanest way to confirm.
